Schools
WakeUP is currently focusing on the following growth issues that affect the quality of education of students in Wake County:
- Advocate at the state and local levels for additional sources of revenue for WCPSS and other high growth public school systems, e.g. a transfer tax, impact fees, Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO).
- Form a statewide coalition that supports our mission.
- Advocate for more effective and accountable governance of public schools in NC.
- Advocate for additional funds for WCPSS from the Board of Wake County Commissioners.
- Continue to educate the public with nonpartisan, factual information about the state of public education in Wake and NC.
- Ensure that the public understands the intricacies of proposed public private partnerships.
