Getting Started With WakeUP's New Web Site

WakeUP has implemented a new Web system. Previously, we had two Web locations -- a regular Web site and a blog. These have been merged together, and many new features have been added. In addition to regular stories and blogs, the site will include discussion forums, polls, event management tools and mapping. Comments can be attached to most content published on the site.

To get you started, read the brief tutorial below:

Registration
Although anyone can view the site, you need to register to become an active user. Once you register, click on My Account to provide additional information and set your user preferences.

Anonymous registrations are not permitted. Too often it leads to spam and makes the job more difficult for our volunteer moderators.

Finding Information
The easiest way to find information is to use the Search window located in the left column. Just enter a keyword and click search. A list of matches will be displayed. If you want to narrow your search, click on the advanced search link in the results window.

Under the Search window is another window called Views. Recent Content lists the most recently published content first; Popular Content lists the most frequently read content first; View by Category lets you select content by keywords (categories / tags) attached to the published content; and Recent Comments list the most recent comments first.

Under the title of each content item, clicking on the author's name or any keyword will limit content to the author or keyword selected.

In the right column you can use the Calendar or Upcoming Events List to find information about events.

Writing Content
WakeUP is identifying a team of authors to prepare most content. If you are knowleable about specific growth issues and would like to become an author, send us an e-mail. Editors are also needed.

Any registered user can can attach a comment to most original content published to this site. When you access a comment window, you will see toolbars similar to the toolbars found in a word processor.

We will moderate comments to avoid spam. We are also using a spam filter to avoid inappropriate content.
